Japan Airlines and China Eastern are planning to further expand their codeshare offerings, the two airlines announced this week, with more destinations being added to their network.
Japan Airlines will now be able to place their JL code on more services within China, with help from China Eastern. The focus will be on regional cities accessed through Shanghai, with increased capacity to Chengdu and Chongqing, as well as brand new links with Xi’an, Wuhan and Shenzhen.
“As traffic demand from China to Japan is expected to increase once the Japanese government eases restrictions on the application of individual tourist visas for Chinese nationals from July 1 this year, JAL will prepare to catch this wave and meet the increasing demand,” said JAL in a statement.JAL and China Eastern already codeshare on 22 routes between China and Japan.
