The Thailand Travel Mart (TTM) Plus Amazing Gateway to the Greater Mekong Subregion (TTM+) has been postponed, announced the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) yesterday.
Both events, which were supposed to be held at the Impact Muang Thong Thani Exhibition Centre next week, have been postponed until further notice.
However, TAT said that the Thailand Tourism Festival 2010 (TTF) would proceed between 4-13 June at its original venue at Challenger Hall 1-3, Impact Muang Thong Thani.
“After intense consultation and discussion with the private sector in the light of the recent situation in Bangkok, we decided that the TTM+ would not achieve the set outcomes as we had anticipated” said TAT Governor Suraphon Svetasreni.
“With all the Thai people now coming together to get the country back on its feet, promoting domestic tourism is a logical strategy.
“Thus, we felt it appropriate to proceed with TTF, as it is important to ensure that we make an “emotional recovery” first as part of the effort to regain our strength.”Some 400 sellers from Thailand and GMS countries were registered to participate in TTM+, which was expected to attract about 353 tourism business operators and hosted buyers worldwide.
