Tiger Airways Singapore said on Friday it had been awarded S$4.7 million in a lawsuit against Swissport Singapore.
Tiger had filed for the damages after Swissport prematurely terminated a ground handling contract with the carrier.
Swissport told the carrier in January last year it was unilaterally terminating its ground handling service agreement with Tiger, effective 1 April 2009 – two years earlier than the stated expiration date of the agreement.
In March, Tiger commenced legal action against Swissport, arguing that the breach of contract forced the carrier to renegotiate a new and more expensive deal with another ground-handler.The High Court of Singapore ruled in favour of Tiger awarded the full claim of S$4.7 million to the carrier.
