Cebu Pacific commits to even more new planes

Buoyed by a recent turnaround in profits, Cebu Pacific has increased its order of Airbus A320 aircraft by seven, committing to a backlog of 22 brand new aircraft for its fleet.

The 22 new planes, with a market value of US$1.4 billion dollars, will be delivered progressively from the last quarter of this year through to 2014.

“The A320 Family offers the right combination of low operating costs, fast turnaround times and high levels of passenger comfort,” notes Lance Gokongwei, Cebu Pacific President and CEO.

“We are extremely pleased that the A320 Family has played a role in enabling Cebu Pacific to build a very successful and competitive airline,” says John Leahy, Airbus COO Customers, of the new order.

Cebu Pacific have indicated that they will be utilising the new aircraft on domestic and regional services.

Currently Cebu Pacific operates a fleet of 29 aircraft, 11 of which are Airbus A320s.
