In 2010 Hunter Tourism is set to become a Tier One Regional Tourism Organisation which will see the tourism body receive a boost of $1 million to its marketing spend next year.
Becoming a Tier One RTO sees Hunter Tourism access $500,000 in dollar for dollar ‘Demand Building’ Funding from Tourism NSW, the initial contribution has already been confirmed as a one-off payment from Hunter Councils.
“The Board of Hunter Regional Tourism Organisation has been working closely with local government to ensure the organisation meets the requirements of becoming a self-sustaining RTO,” said Sheridan Ferrier, Hunter Regional Tourism Organisation CEO.
Hunter Tourism has already earmarked the extra million for the 2010 Marketing Plan which will focuses on the seven anchor destinations of the Hunter, under an umbrella campaign to be launched in March.
Metro Sydney and Cruise passengers from Newcastle will be the main targets of this year’s campaigns.
