Aussie Animals Celebrate First White Christmas in July
It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas in Darling Harbour, with some guests and native Australian animals at WILD LIFE Sydney Zoo being treated to special Christmas in July celebrations this morning ahead of this weekend’s celebrations!
The animals hopped, ate and slept their way through the mid-year Christmas celebrations which featured custom Santa sacks, a surprise snow fall, their very own festive tree and special Christmas treats!
Naomi Johnston, Keeper at WILD LIFE Sydney Zoo said, “We love a good excuse to celebrate, and a little fun with Christmas in July was the perfect treat for our animals.
“For our young joeys – Dusk and Dawn – it’s their first ‘Christmas’ out of the pouch so it’s great to see how they interact with the snow as a new form of enrichment. They’re Kangaroo Island Kangaroos and it gets pretty cold down there, so it’s great for them to experience snow in the heart of Sydney! As for Davey our Quokka – he’s got a little bit of negotiating to do with Santa because he’s quite a mischievous character, so he left him a letter.”
Guests are encouraged to join in the Christmas in July fun at WILD LIFE Sydney Zoo from Thursday 25th – Sunday 28th July, with special keeper talks, festive animal feeds and encounters in Darling Harbour!
