Swissôtel Sydney Celebrates World Chocolate Day

From the team who brought back the traditional, delectable Swiss cheese and chocolate fondue experience this winter, Swissôtel Sydney is going one step further and is inviting everyone to celebrate World Chocolate Day in the heart of Sydney’s CBD.

Probably the world’s best-loved sweet treat, chocolate features heavily on dessert menus in most restaurants around the world and is used in a myriad of inventive ways to add flavour, texture and beauty to a dish. According to recent statistics, the average Australian consumes 6.2kg of chocolate in a year.

Staying true to its Swiss tradition and capacity for innovation, the hotel continues to use Swiss chocolate in its entire menu thanks to a technique patented back in 1879 that attributes the smooth, creamy character of one of Switzerland’s most successful exports.

In celebration of World Chocolate Day on 7 July 2019, the culinary team at Swissôtel Sydney is putting together an afternoon event where budding chocolatiers will learn all about the decadent ingredient, its origins and the process that turns the cacao fruit into the chocolate we all love. They will also try their hand at series of techniques such as hand rolling, moulding, piping and coating as well as decorating their own chocolate truffles.

Lorraine Mercuri, General Manager of Swissôtel Sydney said, “The Swissôtel brand is synonymous with style, innovation and effortless service as it is with a high standard of quality. And Swiss chocolate is no exception. We are proud to uphold this humble ingredient that is commonly overlooked and we trust our guests will enjoy the dining experience.”

For those preferring to keep their hands clean, diners can sit back and indulge in a full chocolate-themed buffet high tea including the ever popular chocolate fountain with the works. Swissôtel Sydney’s World Chocolate Day High Tea and Masterclass will be held at Crossroads Bar from 12pm – 3pm. Tickets are priced at $79pp. *Advance booking is required.
