Collette’s popular Iconic Israel tour is set to offer a revamped itinerary offering unparalleled exclusive experiences on tours departing from May 2020.

The tour will continue to explore some of the most significant sites of the ancient world including Bethlehem, Nazareth, Jerusalem, the Dead Sea and the oldest city in the world, the ruins of Jericho.  From 1 May 2020, the tour will incorporate additional unique ways for guests to immerse themselves in the unique culture, interact with locals and taste the flavours of the region.

“Israel is not the same country it was ten years ago and the Iconic Israel tour has evolved with it.  We are still including the key sites but have adapted the tour to speak to a culturally curious traveller and showcase the best of Israel: past, present and future,” says James Hewlett, Head of Marketing for Collette Australia.

The new look Iconic Israel tour 2020 now includes the following additions:

  • A home-hosted dinner in Jerusalem with an Orthodox Jewish Family, providing an insight into the rituals and ceremony of kosher cooking.

  • Private tour of the Holocaust Museum and meeting with a Holocaust Survivor: The privately guided tour of Yad Vashem Holocaust Museum followed by a Collette-exclusive meeting a with a holocaust survivor is both a moving and memorable experience.  Guests will have opportunity to share in the story of survival and ask questions, ensuring an incredibly impactful encounter.

  • Guided food tour in Tel Aviv’s Carmel Market: Israeli cuisine is incredible, but you’ll never experience the good stuff when you’re stuck eating in hotels!  The tour breaks into smaller groups to explore the tastes, sights and sounds of the local markets, interacting with provedores and stall holders.

  • Lunch with the Druze: Experience an intimate home cooked lunch to learn more about this distinct culture and unique community.

  • Visit to The Golan Heights: Bordering Israel, Syria, Lebanon and Jordan, The Golan Heights, has a political and strategic significance which belies its size.  Now under Israeli rule following its seizure from Syria in the 1967 Six Day War, ‘The Golan’, until recently, was an exclusion zone.  The now accessible region is rich wine making country in the north where the tour visits.

  • More time in Tel Aviv: A thriving and dynamic city on the Mediterranean, Tel Aviv is worthy of extra time to explore the ever-evolving restaurant scene and sparkling coastline.

  • New Jerusalem Option:  This add-on option explores Jerusalem’s blend of history and modern life with a guided walking tour that delves into the city’s current political climate.  An expert guide provides and introduction into the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and how it relates to modern life in Jerusalem.

The 10-day, 9-night tour is priced from AU $3,149pp twin share.  Contact your local travel agent or call Collette on 1300 792 195 or visit for bookings and further information.
