Meet MTA – Mobile Travel Agents’ Susan Plos

Background: I had a varied career before joining MTA Travel training as a biomedical scientist, then started by own boutique featuring young designers. I also have a Diploma in Visual Arts and have also exhibited in several national art prizes.

What did you do before you joined MTA? I worked in event management doing everything from designing sets, to corporate events and casting for movies shot in FNQ.

Do you have a specialised area in travel? Independent Adventure travel, Japan Ski holidays and family holidays.

What is the most unusual (or interesting) location you have worked as an MTA Mobile Travel Agent? The base of Mt Kilimanjaro.

What is the weirdest request you have had from a client? A client wanted to trek the Tianhan mountains in Kyrgyzstan – had to google where they were.

If you hadn’t become an MTA Advisor, what other career path would you have taken? An Artist.

What’s one of your biggest personal achievements? Having twins, running a business and doing a Diploma of Art all at the same time.

Describe your perfect holiday. Some cycling, hiking and any other outdoor activity included. I also love exploring the local food and craft scene wherever I am and meeting the locals.

if you had a time machine where would you travel to and why? Being so interested in art I would love to travel back to Paris in the Belle Époque era when all the impressionists were painting there.

If you could choose one, what would your super power be? Mind reading.

What three things do you always take with you when travelling? My laptop, good walking shoes and my camera.
