Family background: Married with two amazing boys 18 and 21.
What did you do before you joined MTA? For many years I worked in admin. After having my second child I saw an ad for a home-based travel agency that trained you on the job and worked there for a few years before joining MTA.
When and why did you join MTA? June 2006, I’d heard great reports about MTA, so thought I’d give them a go. I really liked the fact that MTA is a family owned business.
What do you like most about working as an MTA Member? I love the flexibility of my work day, the freedom to run my business the way that works best for me and the amazing support team at Head Office.
Do you have a specialised area in travel? Leisure and groups.
What’s one of your biggest personal achievements? Raising our two boys into amazing young men with my husband of 22 years by my side.
What’s the biggest thing you’ve learnt since starting as a home-based travel agent? Believe in yourself as you really can do anything you put your mind to.
What sets MTA apart from the rest? The support network, all the training and now the latest MTA Professional Plus Program which has been designed to enhance our overall standing as travel industry professionals
What’s the best advice you’ve ever been given and who gave it? Don’t waste time worrying about something you can’t change – my mum.
Who do you admire and see as a role model in the industry? Karen and Roy Merricks. The business model they have built from the ground up is one of the best out there.
What destinations are next on your travel bucket list? Next to tick off is Italy and Lake Como and the Amalfi Coast
What’s the most memorable travel experience you’ve had (good or bad)? Italy’s Cinque Terre is my most memorable experience, the great walks with amazing views and the food – just loved it.
What three things do you always take with you when travelling? My kindle, my walking shoes and my iPhone.
Which famous person would you most like to travel with and where to? Chris Hemsworth and it can be anywhere…..
What do you find yourself doing on your weekends? Going for walks, shopping, watching soccer, both our son and the Newcastle Jets, and spending time in the garden.
