Commemorate D Day 75th Anniversary
Classic Journeys, one of the world’s leading tour operators, has announced the introduction of a new itinerary in Northern France this spring, exploring the historic regions of Brittany and Normandy in honor of the 75th anniversary of D-Day.
The trip will begin in the coastal region of Mont Dol, where guests will have three full days to explore the beautiful countryside of Brittany, including a cooking lesson in Breton cuisine and a sampling of some of France’s finest seafood from the region. Guests will also have the unique opportunity to walk across cinematic tidal flats to the medieval island fortress of Mont-Saint-Michel, as Classic Journeys intentionally times the visit there during low tide.
The second half of the trip will explore some of the most historic D-Day battle sites in Normandy, including visits to Pointe du Hoc and Omaha Beach. Based at the Château Hotel, guests will explore the area through scenic coastal walks, tasting local apple brandy and viewing the captivating art of the original French impressionist painters Eugène Boudin, Louis-Alexandre Dubourg and Jean-Baptiste-Camille Corot.
The new Northern France itinerary is available for travel starting in mid-May 2019 through the first week of October 2019. Rates start at $4,995 per guest, based on double occupancy, and include accommodations for all six nights, tour guides, land transportation, daily breakfasts, three lunches and four dinners. Trip extensions are available at an additional cost.
