All Aboard, The Vino Express returns to Orange in 2018
One of Australia’s most anticipated regional culinary events, the Orange Wine Festival is back again in 2018, 12-21 October, returning with its signature sell-out experience, The Vino Express.
First launched in 2016, The Vino Express is a three-day Sydney-to-Orange return journey packed with curated food and wine experiences, showcasing the best cool climate wines, local produce and dining that the Orange region has to offer.
The Vino Express departs Sydney’s Central Station across two weekends, 12-14 October and 19-21 October, and the fun starts once onboard the dedicated Festival train carriage with wine tastings hosted by a local winemaker.
Once in Orange, the itinerary features private cellar door tours, wine tastings, masterclasses, café breakfasts, long lunches and fine-dining experiences throughout Orange, along with tickets to the festival’s signature events and overnight accommodation, all from $897 per person.
The Vino Express is the newest fixture on the calendar of the Orange Wine Festival – a 10-day event held each year in spring to celebrate the premier cool climate wines from Australia’s highest wine-growing region.
Now in its 13th year, the Orange Wine Festival has launched a program of signature experiences such as The Vino Express, Wine in the Vines, Orange Wine Show tasting event, and the Festival Night Market, along with more than 90 events, from wine tours and tastings, paddock to plate dinners and meet the maker masterclasses.
The festival brings together more than 80 vineyards and 30 cellar doors from picturesque Orange and its local villages of Blayney and Cabonne, with wines characterised by the region’s uniquely high elevation of 600 to 100 metres above sea level, complemented by spectacular local produce and restaurants.
“While every week is food and wine week in Orange, experiencing the region’s amazing wines, produce and dining surrounded by the buzz and excitement of the Orange Wine Festival is an opportunity not to miss,” said Justin Jarrett, president of the Orange Region Vignerons Association (and owner of See Saw Wines).
This year’s Orange Wine Festival will mark the first major regional event supported by Orange360, a new joint regional tourism initiative between Orange City Council, Blayney Shire Council and Cabonne Council.
Tickets for The Vino Express, and other Orange Wine Festival events, are on sale now, with the full program available at www.orangewinefestival.com.au.
