Mudgee scoops the pool at Regional Tourism Awards

Mudgee Region Tourism was front and centre on Saturday night at the 2018 Country and Outback Regional Tourism Awards, taking home the gold across two categories; Destination Marketing, thanks to their hugely successful Let’s Skip Town Mid-Week campaign, and Visitor Information Services.

Further cementing the region’s award-winning travel experiences are Sierra Escape and The Parkview Hotel, receiving gold awards across Unique and Deluxe Accommodation category, Kirsten Serviced Accommodation taking Silver in Self-contained Accommodation category and Blue Wren named finalists in Tourism Wineries, Distilleries and Breweries category.

The Regional Tourism Awards provide tourism organisations and individuals the opportunity to gain an insight into their industry, their business, achieve recognition for their success and promote tourism within their region.

Cara George, Mudgee Region Tourism’s CEO, comments “Mudgee Region offers the quintessential Australian country experience, with a sophisticated boutique wine and foodie heartbeat. Visitors arrive with certain expectations and the region continues to surpass them. We are thrilled and honoured to bring home a swag of awards to celebrate our wonderful partners and welcoming community.”

The program rewards businesses that demonstrate significant achievement throughout the year, showcasing a variety of tourism products and businesses delivering outstanding service to guests in NSW.

The Mudgee Region is just a 3.5-hour drive from Sydney, or a 45-minute flight with FlyPelican, and delivers one of the country’s most sought-after boutique wine region experiences. It is renowned for its food and wine with more than 40 cellar doors, as well as excellent art, music, nature and history experiences.

Regional Tourism Awards winners will progress to the NSW Tourism Awards as Finalists, with a gala dinner to be held in Sydney 22 November, where they may then progress to the Qantas Australian Tourism Awards.
