Sun Princess calls Perth home following multi-million dollar refresh

Princess Cruises’ Sun Princess will commence a short season in Perth (Fremantle) complete with new features and upgrades following a 14-day multi-million dollar refurbishment in Singapore last month. From October, Sun Princess will be based in Perth completing three roundtrip itineraries, including a maiden eight-night Coral Coast voyage which will see the liner return to Exmouth for the first time since 2009. During her Western Australian deployment, Sun Princess will also make calls to Albany, Broome, Busselton (for the Margaret River region) and Geraldton.

“Sun Princess will return to the great city of Perth with an array of new features that Western Australian’s are going to love.” said Senior Vice President Princess Cruises Asia Pacific, Stuart Allison.

“Sun Princess’ return to Western Australia also marks the liner’s return to Exmouth for the first time in almost ten-years. Guests sailing on the new eight-night Coral Coast voyage roundtrip from Perth will make calls to Geraldton and Broome, before sailing to Exmouth to enjoy Western Australia’s stunningly beautiful Northwest Cape.”

Sun Princess’ homeport in Western Australia also marks the return of beloved Australian Chef Curtis Stone’s onboard restaurant, SHARE. With two award-winning restaurant’s in Los Angeles (Maudeand Gwen), SHARE is the only opportunity for Western Australians to sample the chef’s exquisite cuisine locally.

“I had the pleasure of visiting the spectacular Margaret River region recently and I can say that Western Australia is a beautiful produce-rich state that has a flavour as dynamic as its people; I’m so excited to create my signature dishes at SHARE using fresh local flavours that are unique to Western Australia,” said Chef Curtis Stone.

For younger cruisers, Sun Princess has been fitted with transformed Camp Discovery youth centres. Designed in partnership with Discovery™, the centres have been created specifically for kids and teens, encouraging new friendships and supporting discovery and creativity through play.

In aesthetic enhancements, Sun Princess is the latest ship to receive the elegant livery design featuring Princess Cruises’ logo, one of the most recognised brand logos in cruising. The design features the smooth and flowing gracefulness of ocean waves and represents the excitement and adventure of discovering the great destinations of the world aboard a Princess cruise.

Guests onboard Sun Princess can also enjoy an enhanced shopping experience at The Shops of Princess with a new branded Effy Fine Jewellery Boutique along with a newly designed Logo Shopwhere guests can choose from a collection of Princess branded athletic wear and logo apparel.

In addition, Sun Princess was the first Australian-based ship to offer the Princess Luxury Bed, which has been developed exclusively for Princess by US sleep expert Dr Michael Breus to deliver the most comfortable and rejuvenating sleep at sea.

In the Princess Theatre, guests will be entertained by Encore, a spellbinding musical directed and choreographed by world-renown creative director, Danny Teeson. Guests can also participate in The Voice of the Ocean, an interactive in-show experience, inspired by the highest-ranked TV show in the world.

Last year, Princess’ Western Australian deployment injected approximately $40-million into the state’s economy. This year, as a result of Sun Princess’ deployment, Western Australia will see a further $8-million in spending from guests, crew and port fees and charges.

Sun Princess’ 2018/2019 deployment comes as Princes Cruises prepares for a record-breaking 141 day deployment in Fremantle for the 2019/2020 Australian summer cruising season, the largest financial commitment ever made to the state by a cruise brand. This historic investment follows the return of Sun Princess to Fremantle which will generate a one hundred per cent increase in cruise ship guests sailing from Western Australia.
