If you find yourself with old computers, televisions and printers cluttering up the house, then the Household E-Waste Drop Off event could be just what you need.

Residents can recycle their old electronic equipment free of charge by dropping it off at Council’s Household E-Waste Drop Off event on Saturday 4 and Sunday 5 August at Leumeah Station car park.

Mayor of Campbelltown, Cr George Brticevic, encouraged residents to take advantage of the free service to dispose of old electronic items responsibly.

“The service is a great way for residents to recycle old televisions, computers and electronic items, which often contain hazardous materials and need to be handled carefully,” he said

“By recycling these items, we can save valuable resources and prevent hazardous materials from going to landfill.”

Electronic items, especially televisions and computers, contain a mix of valuable resources such as gold, steel, copper, zinc, aluminium and brass, all of which can be recycled.

Televisions and computers also contain hazardous materials such as lead, mercury and cadmium, which can also be recycled, but require specialised handling and processing.

Items such as televisions, computers, keyboards, scanners, stereos, CD and DVD players and printers will be accepted at the event for recycling. All e-waste collected will be processed and recycled locally in accordance with strict environmental standards.

The Household E-Waste Drop Off event will be held on 4 and 5 August at Leumeah Station car park, Plough Inn Road, Leumeah from 8am to 3pm.
