Locals to celebrate end of Pie Time 2018
This weekend will see the conclusion of a month long successful celebration of the great Aussie icon the Pie in the Southern Highlands when locals residents will be encouraged to tuck into a their favourite Pie with family and friends on Saturday 30 June for ‘Locals Pie Night’.
Manager Destination Southern Highlands Steve Rosa said “Pie Time in the Southern Highlands, which has been held throughout the month of June, has been a huge success for the region with increased visitation and sales reported by numerous business outlets outside of the participating pie makers. We have been extremely pleased with the support that Pie Time has received in its second year from both the local business sector & the community. Pie Time’s signature event PieFEST, held last weekend at Bong Bong Racecourse Bowral, saw a record attendance of close to 8,000 pie lovers which was double the visitation of the inaugural festival held last year in Corbett Gardens Bowral. The event stimulated new visitation to the region from people in our core target markets of Sydney, Canberra & the Illawarra who had not visited the region before as well as giving local residents an opportunity to experience the products and pie makers of the Southern Highlands.”
Destination Southern Highlands is this weekend seeking local residents to cap off a great months promotion by encouraging locals residents to purchase or bake a pie and then invite friends and relatives to their homes and share in the pie experience whilst entrenching their support as ambassadors for the region now being promoted as the ‘Southern Pie-lands’ in June.
Steve added “we encourage locals to share their Pie Night experience on social media platforms of Facebook & Instagram by taking photos and tagging with #pietimesouthernhighlands or @destinationsouthernhighlands. As proud ambassadors of the Southern Highlands locals will be helping to reinforce our region as “Australia’s Home of Pies.”
