Carnival Australia welcomes young seafaring ‘Recruits’
When Carnival Australia welcomed nearly 50 fresh faced young ‘recruits’ aged four to 17 to its new Chatswood head office it made sense that a ship visit would also be involved.
The enthusiastic junior seafarers were taking part in a special ‘Bring Your Children to Work Day’ for a behind the scenes view of their parents’ workplace.
In a major highlight of the day, two buses ferried the children to P&O Cruises’ 1400-passenger Pacific Eden berthed at the Overseas Passenger Terminal at Circular Quay.
They enjoyed a tour of the ship’s galley where chefs prepare thousands of meals each day, enjoyed the kids’ club, flew high above the top deck on the onboard adventure club’s zipline and took part in a hip hop dance session on stage in the main theatre.
“Our employees are very proud of their contribution to running Australia’s biggest cruise company and they were only too pleased for their children to experience a taste of their working life,” said Sture Myrmell, President of Carnival Australia and P&O Cruises Australia.
“It would really be no surprise if some of the children ultimately choose to follow in their parents’ career footsteps having had a taste of what makes a cruise company tick.”
