The Sydney Olympic Park Authority Business Events team has been recognised for outstanding performance taking the NSW Award for ‘Metropolitan Destination Marketing Organisation’ at the Meetings & Events Australia (MEA) Industry Awards 2017.

The MEA Industry Awards is industry-renowned for recognising best management practice and outstanding performance in the Australian meetings and events industry. The Award was presented to the Sydney Olympic Park Authority Business Events team on 4 April 2018.

Sydney Olympic Park Authority Senior Manager Business Events, Danielle Hoare, said to receive such significant acknowledgement by MEA is a great honour and reinforces the effectiveness of Sydney Olympic Park’s destination marketing approach.

‘With over 100 function spaces across 11 venues in one destination, Sydney Olympic Park is well-equipped to cater to virtually any type of corporate event. The Business Events team works closely with all 11 venues to collectively market the Sydney Olympic Park precinct as a world class destination and the strength of collaboration with partners is key to our success,’ Ms Hoare said.

“Over the past 12-months the team has made significant marketing efforts in both the domestic and international market particularly targeting Asia-Pacific, which have lead to secure some incredible events at the Park and added investment in New South Wales.”

The Sydney Olympic Park Authority Business Events team will proceed to the National Awards event in Adelaide on 8 May, where the national winner will be announced at the MEA National Conference 2018 Gala Dinner.

The category of Metropolitan Destination Marketing Organisation judges the best business focusing on the destination marketing services delivered relating specifically to the convention and events sector, not general tourism, hospitality or destination activities. In the case of tourist organisations. The judging is not related to the size of the budget but on the quality of the services provided and the results obtained within the established parameters and objectives set.

Sydney Olympic Park facilitates almost 6,000 events annually, nearly half of which are business events.
