When and why did you join the industry?

I am a long time admirer of the industry. I truly love it – It creates a sense of adventure and encourages people to grow. Travel also creates the opportunity to capture life time memories, that part is priceless!

What do you like most about your job?

Interacting with both the businesses, tour operators and global traveller. To watch our tour operator share their culture is very rewarding. It is delivered with such heart centred passion, the tourist leaves the activity or experience having been transported and educated on the longest civilisation in the world.

What’s one of the biggest achievements of your career so far?

Creating the future of tourism – Experiencing authentic indigenous culture in virtual reality 3D tours combined with the real deal upon arrival to Australia is mind blowing and fun.

We are creating a global market place for our first nation story tellers, cultural entrepreneurs and tour operators – Being given the opportunity to make a difference to a business owner – This stuff is real and highly valued in our company. Its a hard slog, supporting local business supports families in turn means we at ITA are helping to create a better future and change lives.

What’s the best advice ever given to you and who gave it?
Never be afraid to be different, if need to, fail fast but make sure you have fun along the journey – Entrepreneurship is one hell of a ride, its not for the faint hearted, Samone laughs

Who do you admire and see as a role model in the industry?

Naomi Simson – Red Balloon Founder

I admire how Naomi is the face of her brand. She presents very personable, always extending her knowledge to upcoming business owners. Naomi doesn’t seem to be removed from her brand, i admire that. She is always looking for ways to enhance the operations for the ‘ultimate customer experience, being customer centric is key in our industry.

Red Balloon delivers real outside the box experiences for regular Australians who want to leave or create a life long memory. We are on the same page purposeful and memorable customer experiences.

What can people expect from your company and what sets it apart from the rest?

At Indigenous Tour Agency we create the true connection to our country, preserve this ancient stories and share our cultural experiences with the world. Our future is in the partnership of culture and technology. Virtual Tours will be an essential part of the future in tourism marketing. Our story tellers, cultural entrepreneurs and tour operators will have access to a global marketplace. Indigenous Tour Agency is set to lead the way in the future of global tourism.

What destinations are on your travel bucket list?

Puerto Rico, Japan, and Tuscany..quite diverse locations and corners of the planet, all have something very beautiful and unique to offer.

What’s a memorable travel experience you’ve had (good or bad)?

Travelling to US, Dallas Texas with my Aunty in early 2017. We are a close family. My Aunty (Helen) was always the ‘fun one’. As kids she would take all of us cousins on trips around South Australia regional areas, take us to experience live theatre performances and keep us very busy over the school holiday breaks. We had a great time in the US. As life moves so fast these days, family time is very important.

What are three things you always take with you when travelling?
1. Good quality accessories, we spend a lot of time in airports and travelling to destinations across Australia
2. Wi-Fi is an essential but what is truly the best is
3. A great travelling buddy to share the adventure with.

What direction do you see the industry heading in over the next five to ten years?
The future of tourism is exciting – with the rapid development of technology and access to global neighbours, Indigenous Tour Agency is at the forefront of virtual reality tourism experience. We have the cutting edge technology that will host and market high-value visual content to to the world.
