Revisiting Italy, we head back to some of the most popular tourism hot-spots on the planet.
Stepped in history, innovation, and power, Rome is the largest and probably the most significant city in Italy. At almost 2800 years old, the city has reinvented itself multiple times. Culturally and architecturally, Rome is a city of broad contrasts, with huge and opulent palaces, to narrow windy alleyways that house the cities inhabitants. With literally too many attractions and sites to visit, mentioning a few would not do the place justice !
The best way to get around Rome is a ‘Roma Pass’ that allows limited access to architectural sites, and unlimited public transport, and discounts. There is no way you want to tackle the city centre in any way other than mass transit !
In a similar vein, another drawcard destination in Italy is Venice. As with Rome, driving in Venice is not recommended 😉 Venice is virtually the same as it was 600 years ago, and hasn’t had much repair work done in that time ! with over 20 million visitors each year, the windy romantic canals can do the trick. If visiting Venice, take a trip over to Murano, one of the glass and lens making centres of the world
For a more relaxing, chilled out and happy hour type portion, head to Amalfi. Beautiful cliff hotels and resorts will be the trick after tackling Rome and Venice.
Rome: ancient, massively significant, and a must see on a trip to Europe.
