Creativity and travel prove a winning combination
The stunning landscapes of the Kakadu, the Larapinta Trail and the Flinders Ranges were the catalysts for World Expeditions’ new photography tour and art expeditions in Australia.
Kakadu’s tumbling waterfalls, red escarpments, shady pools and tranquil wetlands are an ideal classroom to learn the “artistry of photography” fromone of Australia’s finest landscape photographers, and the spectacular outback scenery and intense colours on the NT’s Larapinta Trail and SA’s Flinders Ranges provide wonderful opportunities to learn about painting natural landscapes.
World Expeditions’ new Kakadu Photography with Peter Walton combines an active exploration of this beautiful part of the world with the opportunity to learn about composition, lighting, focus and interest points and lens choice from Peter Walton, whose iconic images have been widely used for more than 40 years by advertising agencies, the travel industry, in Australian landscape calendars and coffee table books.
This active, walking-based itinerary gives people with an interest in photography, no matter at what level, the opportunity to develop technical and artistic skills through in-the-field experience, informal tuition, discussion and feedback, while capturing Kakadu’s most photogenic locations.
There’ll be plenty of opportunities to tap into Peter’s vast knowledge and experience, with practical demonstrations about how to create great images, including the use of easy-to-use (and inexpensive) software for applying artistic treatments that give images a unique hand crafted look.
The 6 day Kakadu Photography with Peter Walton departs Darwin on 27 May, 2018 and costs $3,800 per person. Price includes hotel accommodation, transfers and all meals.
For painters, the 6 day Art Expedition Larapinta or the 9 day Art Expedition Flinders Ranges are wonderful opportunities to experience the vibrant colours of two of the most picturesque and distinctive landscapes in Australia.
Under the expert guidance of accomplished Sydney artist and art teacher, Michael Herron, painters will be encouraged to find their own expression of these ancient lands, with their spectacular peaks, rugged gorges and the rich desert colours. Both itineraries have been crafted to allow artists to spend time in a wide range of stunning locations, including opportunities to undertake optional guided walks.
The 9 day Art Expedition Flinders Ranges departs Adelaide on 1 July, 2018 and costs $3,295 per person and the 6 day Art Expedition Larapinta departs Alice Springs on 13 July, 2018 and costs $2,895 per person.
World Expeditions also offers photography tours overseas. We’ve just launched a new trip with Richard I’Anson taking in the Ladakhi New Year Festivals of Galden Namchot and Losar, with the spectacular photographic opportunities they offer, enhanced by the backdrop of a winter landscape.
The 11 day Festivals & Monasteries of Ladakh: A winter journey with Richard I’Anson, departs Leh on 30 Nov – 10 Dec 2018 and costs $4,190 per person.
