Sabre expands into Papua New Guinea travel market
Sabre Corporation (NASDAQ: SABR), the leading technology provider to the global travel industry, today announced a new agreement with Air Niugini to distribute the Sabre global distribution system (GDS) in Papua New Guinea. This move marks Sabre’s entry into the Papua New Guinea travel market and further cements Sabre as the leading travel technology partner for the Pacific region.
With this agreement, travel agents will adopt Sabre’s leading point-of-sale solution – the new Sabre Red Workspace – which delivers a content-rich marketplace integrated with data-driven support tools. Papua New Guinea travel businesses, including travel management companies, and corporate, leisure and online travel agencies, will be able to leverage Sabre’s solutions to extend their reach with access to all travel markets.
Other solutions that Sabre will be bringing to the market include TripCase, an itinerary management tool that gives travellers the freedom to manage and stay connected with their latest trip details and to create new bookings, as well as Clipboard, a tool that helps travel agents quickly translate information from Sabre Red Workspace and configure information to meet their needs.
Under the leadership of Todd Arthur, who was promoted in June 2017 to lead the Asia Pacific region for Sabre, the company is growing from strength to strength and extending its presence in new markets.
“Sabre has been in Asia Pacific for over two decades and we are continuously investing in smart technologies that capture new opportunities and address existing challenges. We are also constantly working on providing more content to agents within the Sabre travel marketplace. With Air Niugini as our latest distribution partner, we are confident in extending our reach and helping to grow Papua New Guinea’s travel industry through our integrated network,” said Todd Arthur, vice president, Sabre Travel Network Asia Pacific.
“As focus on enhanced technologies, revenue and customer experience continues to grow, travel professionals will seek technology partners that are able to support their strategic direction and provide the latest tools to deliver on their objectives,” he added.
“We commenced our business transformation four years ago in the areas of customer service, cost management and changing our culture to better suit the evolving needs of our travellers”, says Simon Foo, CEO of Air Niugini. “With Sabre’s leading technology solutions and expertise in the travel space, we are confident that they are the best partner of choice to drive revenue and efficiencies for us, and growth within the region.”
Air Niugini is the national carrier of Papua New Guinea, offering a range of domestic flights and international flights throughout Asia, Oceania and Australia. Air Niugini tickets are now available via Sabre.
