GIANTS take off for pre-season training in Hawaii
Hawaiian Airlines, the International Airline of GIANTS Netball, will welcome the team on board in Sydney on 28 November, 2017 before flying the Australian Netball stars to Honolulu for pre-season training in Hawaii.
Hawaiian Airlines’ Regional Director for Australia and New Zealand, who will travel with the team, said the airline is excited to show Hawaii to the GIANTS.
“We consider our sponsorships carefully and were thrilled to add our support from the outset of GIANTS’ entry to Australia’s exciting Suncorp Super Netball,” she said.
“As new members of our ‘ohana’ (extended family, in the Hawaiian language) we can’t wait to share our warm Hawaiian in-flight hospitality with the team and to cheer them on during a week of intensive training on Oahu.”
“As well as being a hugely popular holiday destination, Hawaii is an amazing natural destination with a unique culture, environment and geography. Oahu and many of the neighbour islands are used as an aspirational training destination by elite level teams and athletes from around the world,” she said.
During their week in Hawaii, the GIANTS will undertake intensive training including fitness sessions at the University of Hawaii.
For Head Coach Julie Fitzgerald, the pre-season trip will not only expose the players to world-class training facilities, but also provide a fantastic opportunity to spend quality time with the Hawaiian Airlines ohana.
“We’re thrilled to be heading over to Honolulu with the wider Hawaiian Airlines family, and very appreciative for this opportunity they’ve afforded us,” Fitzgerald said.
“I’m a strong believer that if you have a tight-knit group, the results will speak for themselves, and that bond is established long before the players take to the court for Round 1. So not only will we use this pre-season trip to train hard and get our bodies ready for the vigour of Suncorp Super Netball, it also provides us with a unique opportunity to spend quality time together as a group.
“That said, we’re excited to experience all that Honolulu has to offer. We’ll be making the most of the outdoor activities on offer, such as picturesque hikes and water sports, as well as exploring the region with our personal Hawaiian Airlines tour guides.”

About GIANTS Netball
More than two million people play Netball in Australia, with young girls and women the majority of participants. The sport’s pinnacle is the Suncorp Super Netball; an elite competition contested by some of international netball’s best athletes in what is considered the world’s best Netball league.
GIANTS Netball is one of two New South Wales-based Clubs, and set the competition alight in its inaugural year with the help of its world-class playing roster and coaching staff. The Club prides itself in representing New South Wales and the GIANTS Family, which also consists of the Men’s and Women’s Australian Football League (AFL) teams.
In its short lifetime, GIANTS Netball has already established itself as a strong and united Club. More than 2,500 Fans signed up as Foundation Members in 2017, which GIANTS finished Runners-Up after contesting the inaugural Suncorp Super Netball Grand Final.
2018 is a new chapter for the Club, and will see the return of nine inaugural athletes – including inspirational Captain Kimberlee Green returning from a serious knee injury. Having set strong foundations in their debut year, the GIANTS are determined to build on their early successes to go one better when the competition recommences in April 2018.
