Dive Munda takes out SICCI Tourism Business of the Year Award
Recognition of the important role the Solomon Islands’ diving sector plays in bringing international visitors to the destination, the Solomon Islands Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SICCI) has presented Dive Munda with its inaugural ‘Tourism Business of the Year’ Award.
Dive Munda owner/operator and operations director, Belinda Botha said she and her team were honoured and humbled to be the first company to receive the newly inaugurated award.
“For us being a small operator in an amazing destination, this award means so much, “Ms Botha said.
“This award will not only help Dive Munda promote the Solomon Islands as a prime dive destination worldwide, it will also help our people and communities to develop and prosper.
“Most importantly, it gives us a voice to continue to advocate the importance of sustainable dive tourism, ocean conservation and coral reef protection in a pristine, untouched and unspoilt ‘destination within the destination’ alike Munda.”
Congratulating Dive Munda on its success, Solomon Islands Visitors Bureau CEO, Josefa ‘Jo’ Tuamoto said the company continued to play an instrumental role in promoting the destination’s world-class diving to a truly global audience and was truly deserved of the SICCI recognition.
The peak representative organisation for the private sector in the Solomon Islands, the SICCI ‘Tourism Business’ of the Year’ category was added this year to recognise the outstanding delivery of tourism services and attractions that attract significant visitor numbers, enhance the visitor experience and integrate with other tourism products and services.
This category also recognises tourism operations and events that foster an understanding and appreciation of Solomon Islands culture, history, heritage, tradition and the arts.
