MTA crosses fingers for Avis Scholarship finalist Amber Halleday
The entire MTA – Mobile Travel Agents’ head office team and 375 MTA Members across the country will be collectively holding their breath and crossing fingers for fellow MTA Member Amber Halleday on Monday night (13 November) when the winner of 2017 Avis Travel Agent Scholarship is announced.
Congratulating Amber on her achievement in reaching the finals, MTA CEO, Don Beattie said
everyone in the company was delighted for her.
“We would like to congratulate all of the finalists as we are well aware of the calibre of people who are selected for this prestigious and work life changing award,” Mr Beattie said.
Amber, one of four travel consultants nominated for the scholarship this year, joins an exalted list of five MTA Members who have either won or made the finals for this prestigious award over the last five years.
These include Bettiann Gain and Belinda van Tholen who won the Avis Scholarship in 2012 and 2015, respectively, while Leanne McGovern, Debbie Andrews and Melissa Pointon were named finalists in 2012, 2015 and 2016, respectively.
“Amber is an outstanding candidate and would make any organisation proud,” Mr Beattie said.
“We know that we have some of the best people in the industry at MTA, this kind of recognition supports that, as does the fact that many of our MTA travel experts are sought after on a regular basis.”
“It goes without saying that we are delighted with Amber’s achievements as we are of all our Members, past and present, who have entered into this scholarship.
“It is also interesting to note that for the first time all of the finalists are from the home-based model which of course MTA pioneered some 18 years ago and with the intent on providing (predominately) women in travel the opportunity to continue working in the industry and to manage their own business while balancing any family or other life style commitments.”
