AccorHotels celebrates one year

AccorHotels is proud celebrate the one year anniversary of the Community Fund, working alongside founding partners Kokoda Youth Foundation, The Garvan Institute of Medical Research, Lifeline and AIME Mentoring.

Since September 2016, over 10,000 staff across 200 AccorHotels Australian properties have been raising funds and awareness of the four founding charities through a variety of initiatives. Some of these include the rollout of a national desert promotion, the hosting of a roundtable discussion with the CEOs of the fund partners, forming a partnership with Ronald McDonald House, hosting internal fundraising events and supporting AIME’s National Hoodie Day.

National fundraising efforts are on track to raise $850,000 for the Community Fund in 2017.

Simon McGrath, Chief Operating Officer of AccorHotels Pacific said that AccorHotels is committed to supporting Australian communities and the Community Fund builds on the group’s history of giving.

“Over the past year, we have consolidated our fundraising efforts and we are so proud of our progress to date. It is great to be able to acknowledge our one year anniversary and reflect on what we have done as a group to support the Fund, and it is great to see we are well on our way to reaching our fundraising target of $850,000 for 2017 which is a huge achievement.

“At AccorHotels, we fundamentally believe that healthy families build healthy communities. We see investment in mental health, cancer research, Indigenous employment and supporting our youth as being critical to the nation’s wellbeing and as such, our Community Fund is a passion project that aligns with our values and is designed fund projects that deliver impact.”

Coming soon is AccorHotels’ Race to Survive contest, the group’s major bi-annual charity event held in support of the Community Fund. Taking place on the Gold Coast from 24th October, this event sees teams from corporate office and hotels put through their paces. The four day contest requires more than 180 participants to be both mentally and physically fit as they tackle tough daily challenges.
