Picnic blankets will spread out across the green lawns of Macarthur Park on Sunday, September 10, as locals and visitors to the region gather to enjoy live acoustic music and an array of delicious treats.

Visitors to the event can make their own high tea from a range of food stalls, with cupcakes, quiches, scones, churros, donuts, tea and coffee on offer. Camden Council will be handing out free native plants and a free jumping castle, face painting and petting zoo will ensure children have plenty to keep them busy. Live acoustic entertainment, floral crown making and pot plant painting will also be on offer.

Macarthur Park’s history dates back to colonial times, when it made up part of John and Elizabeth Macarthur’s vast estate. The land was donated to the people of Camden in 1906, and today it features a number of different areas including a heritage rose garden and a wisteria walk and offers an impressive view of the surrounding area. It also plays host to the popular Picnic in the Park each year.

The event will be held at Macarthur Park in Camden and begins at 10am and concludes at 4pm.

Picnic in the Park is one of several events which are part of the annual Camden Festival along with a Kids’ Fun Day, a Food and Wine Festival, a Cinema Under the Stars and the annual public opening of Camden Park House, the 1834 home of John and Elizabeth Macarthur.
