New dedicated travel service for healthcare professionals launched
A new dedicated service, the Health Care Professional (HCP) Service Desk, has been launched by American Express Global Business Travel (GBT) to cater for doctors and medical specialists requiring specialised travel and booking support.
Pharmaceutical companies are often responsible for organising travel for health care professionals. These are leading doctors and medical specialists who are not employees of a pharmaceutical company but who act as consultants, or need to be informed about, medical drugs, products and services at international conferences and medical forums.
The HCP Service Desk has been developed to cater for the unique travel requirements of these doctors and medical specialists and has proved particularly popular with American Express GBT’s pharmaceutical customers since launching in March this year.
The new HCP Service Desk offers the following:
- A dedicated travel consultant for each company, with highly skilled international and domestic experience.
- The ability to serve HCP travellers directly, rather than through pharmaceutical company representatives.
- Split payments and multiple forms of payment, which proves beneficial if the HCP would like to extend the trip and cover some of the expenses personally.
Jo Sully, Vice President and General Manager, American Express Global Business Travel, Australia and New Zealand, said:
“We continually evolve our services to meet our clients’ needs and are pleased to have identified a new service to support medical professionals. Pharmaceutical companies have unique requirements for the third-party HCP’s who might travel to provide expertise to the pharmaceutical company or for education purposes. HCPs and pharmaceutical companies are subject to strict regulations when travelling for conferences and work, and GBT is able to support by providing a travel service which meets the exacting requirements for this industry, while providing the requisite data for compliance and reporting.”
There is no additional cost to GBT’s pharmaceutical customers for using this service, and it comes with the added convenience of being able to make all business travel related bookings with one partner.
“Feedback from our early trials of the HCP Service Desk indicates that HCP’s love the service because they have their own dedicated travel consultant who can meet all their needs. If doctors want to add a holiday onto their work trip, or bring a family member, they can split the invoice, making it clear and simple for everyone.”
