TravelManagers’ Business Model Allows More Client & Family Time
After numerous years in a traditional retail travel environment, it was the commission structure and flexibility that TravelManagers’ home-based consulting offered that attracted husband and wife team Ian Long and Shani Driver representative for Bridges in Queensland, to join the company.

Having the time to really go the extra mile for clients is a key driver for the personal travel managers.
“The commission structure at TravelManagers isn’t capped so the goal posts do not move with the more you earn. This has enabled us to earn a fantastic salary, in fact we do less bookings and earn more. We can now spend more time with our clients providing tailor made itineraries and the service they deserve, we have extra time for our family and time to enjoy the benefits of being a travel professional. We now attend famils and are completely comfortable taking the time off to continue to learn about travel, knowing that we are not at all disadvantaged financially,” says Driver.
Nearly three years on and Long and Driver haven’t looked back.
“We were recently sitting having breakfast at Brisbane Airport awaiting to pick up our client returning from a cruise. It was a beautiful day, we were in shorts and t-shirts and took time to reflect back to our previous life. It would have been our usual 8.30am morning meeting being drilled by our team leader on how we were going to make six bookings that day. Instead we are in our shorts, having coffee and providing our client with the extra personal service that is so important to us. Although we’ve worked hard to get here, we also appreciate the life that TravelManagers has given us. Without their business model, we would probably still be in those morning meetings!”
Long had spent time researching the company prior to making the move.
“After studying the company online and observing the backing of House of Travel my initial perception was this is a company who cares about its profits and its consultants wages at the same time. Now from experience my wife and I can both testify it has the balance right and continues to move with the industry to look after both itself and the personal travel managers it supports.”
