Hundreds gather in Melbourne for Travel Counsellors annual conference

Travel Counsellors from all over Australia recently joined the global management team, head office staff, suppliers, sponsors, media and special guests to attend the highly anticipated annual conference. Held in Melbourne at the MCG, the conference ran from June 2 – 4 and featured a weekend of motivational speeches delivered by influential public figures, talks facilitated by the Travel Counsellors management team, reception drinks at Vue de Monde and a gala awards dinner held at the InterContinental Hotel.

The overarching conference theme of ‘#myTC’ explored what it means to be a Travel Counsellor. Presentations and speeches reflected this theme, covering a wide range of concepts and ideas linked to running a home-based travel enterprise in 2017. Gold medal-winning Olympian Anna Meares OAM delivered an inspirational speech highlighting the ups and downs of her track cycling career. Emphasising the importance of being supported by a great team, Anna’s story connected with the conference attendees in a number of meaningful ways. Quentin Long, co-founder of Australian Traveller Media spoke about the scope of travel by highlighting hot destinations and trending experiences that consumers are currently seeking.

Apart from hosting guest speakers throughout the conference, staff and management from Travel Counsellors also contributed motivational speeches. Travel Counsellors CEO Steve Byrne talked about the power of having passion and belief, while other members of the management team spoke about a range of relevant topics including getting the most out of sales tools, embracing the wonders of digital innovation and maintaining health and wellbeing while running a business.

The gala awards dinner gave attendees a chance to celebrate the achievements of Travel Counsellors working in home offices all over Australia. Including a sumptuous feast and entertainment delivered by singer-songwriter Anthony Callea, prizes were awarded to Travel Counsellors who performed at the highest of levels throughout the year. With prizes donated courtesy of key sponsors including a cruise with Royal Caribbean, a trip to Mexico staying at the One & Only Palmilla, and other trips to Thailand, Bali and beyond, there were plenty of opportunities for Travel Counsellors to be rewarded for their hard work.

Prize winners included:

Matt Schmitz – Best Leisure Sales
