When and why did you join the industry?
I’ve been in the travel industry for over 25 years with various roles based in Australia, UK and USA. I started my travel career at Concorde Travel (now known as Air Tickets – a consolidator) in Brisbane as a ticketer, and progressed through the ranks from there.
What do you like most about your job?
Seeing our team grow and develop both personally and professionally. Making themselves a true business partner with our customers. Knowing you had a small part in shaping their careers. I enjoy working for a Global business, and meeting our many talented and very clever Travelport team members.
What’s one of the biggest achievements of your career so far?
I was working in London at Stella Travel UK and, with a dedicated team, we were able to successfully turnaround several businesses during the GFC. Although this was not an easy experience, and I had to make a few tough decisions, I definitely learnt from it and am thankful for the experience.
What’s the best advice ever given to you and who gave it?
Value your reputation and the legacy you will leave behind – Peter Lacaze (former CEO of mine). Also, my advice is, that if you ever get the opportunity to travel, take it! Travelling provides you with a new perspective and broadens your outlook. My willingness to move and relocate has definitely helped me to progress my career.
Who do you admire and see as a role model in the industry?
I have had many mentors throughout my career, and they have led me to where I am today. I admire people who have pioneered change. I’ve remained close friends with a number of people I worked with at the start of my career and who have remained in the industry, now holding senior roles. Mentors will come and go in your life, so it’s not necessary to have the same one the whole time.

I love RELAXING holidays that include sunshine and beaches so anywhere tropical IS BLISS
What’s a memorable travel experience you’ve had (good or bad)?
I took a trip with a couple of girlfriends years ago that was filled with unforgettable experiences and champagne!
What are three things you always take with you when travelling?
My iPad to keep me entertained & connected, 1Above hydration drink for inflight, and my gym/swimming gear. 1 of them rarely gets used – I’ll let you guess which one!

Cuba is on my bucket list, I hope I’m not too late now that it’s opened up.
What direction do you see the industry heading in over the next five to ten years?
Technology will continue to evolve and innovate, driving change in tourism. This has a domino effect on all the other industries including airlines, hotels, care rentals, and mobile travel commerce which will continue to grow year on year. We will continue to see a growth in mobile commerce, with convenience and tailored/personalised solutions the focus. Travelport is highly invested in continuing to address the emerging trends and needs of the travel value chain to improve growth and revenue for our customers, so the end consumer reaps the rewards.
