TAT nominated for AFTA NTIA Best Tourist Office – International
Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) Sydney Office has been nominated for the Australian Federation of Travel Agents (AFTA) 2017 National Travel Industry Awards (NTIA) in the category of Best Tourist Office – International.
The nomination comes as TAT ramps up promotional activity in what is looking to be a very busy year as the office works with its trade partners to achieve further growth in tourism revenue for Thailand.
Globally, TAT is aiming to reach a tourism revenue target US$50 billion in 2017, an increase of 10 per cent on the 2016 record, and a target of 34.5 million overseas travellers, up six percent on 2016.
Already this year TAT has announced several marketing initiatives, such as the Women’s Journey Thailand initiative, a program to entice more female travellers to the country which includes sponsorship of the Miss World Australia competition. TAT (Sydney) has also sponsored the Tennis Festival Sydney, reaching out the sporting community along with a marketing focus on Muay Thai, cycling and golf. Initiatives such as the ‘Thailand Wedding Destiny’ campaign and sponsorship of ‘The Ultimate Bridal Event’, aim to promote Thailand as a preferred destination for weddings and honeymoons.
The office continues to support its travel trade partners, with the launch of a new training platform and incentives program for travel agents, enabling them to learn about Thailand’s lesser-known and untouched alternate destinations and participation in trade events and expos including Flight Centre Group’s Travel Expo.
Ms.Rujiras Chatchalermkit, TAT Sydney Director said,
“This year we aim to continue to promote Thailand through the Unique Thai Local Experiences, encouraging visitors to discover Thailand’s many amazing stories, through unique and memorable local experiences.”
“We will continue to support our travel agency partners throughout the year, with many marketing campaigns and new initiatives planned for 2017.”
TAT will also continue its wide-reaching direct-to-consumer communications initiatives, which so far, this year has seen two television crews travelling to Thailand to film a series of travel programs, including Explore TV and Studio 10.
TAT Sydney Office will continue to launch new and innovative campaigns throughout 2017, collaborating with relevant partners to promote Thailand as a quality leisure destination to the Australian market.
Voting for nominees will open on Tuesday 14 March.
