Rainforestation welcomes new Koala Joey
Rainforestation Nature Park, located in Kuranda, has welcomed their first koala joey for the year.
As yet unnamed, the female joey was born to Tim Tam and has recently emerged from the pouch permanently, making her approximately six months old.
Rainforestation Nature Park Assistant Manager Shaun Grant said the joey was a very welcome addition to the park.
“Our newest little girl is very cute, and has already delighted visitors to our park,” he said.
“Tim Tam is an experienced mum, having raised Lamington in last year’s group of joeys, so it’s wonderful for her to have another joey this year.”
Visitors to the park can find Tim Tam and her joey in a newly refurbished koala enclosure, located next to the existing koala enclosure within the Koala & Wildlife Park.
A name is expected to be announced for the joey in the coming weeks, and locals can keep up to date with the joey’s progress on the wildlife park’s Facebook and Instagram pages.
