Beyond Travel growth bucks the trend
Contrary to widespread industry trends for FIT sales into Europe, eastern European specialist Beyond Travel has announced significant increases in 2016 FIT bookings.
Marketing manager Bryce Crampton says that while many in the industry are discussing a trend for both agents and consumers to by-pass traditional wholesalers in favour of aggregators or OTAs, Beyond Travels figures reflect continued year on year growth.
He attributes this to Beyond’s experience with unique destinations and a commitment to service in the form of hold time for agents being less than 30 seconds and his local team’s expertise in providing first hand recommendations off the cuff.
Mr Crampton said that the wholesalers current price freeze on FIT bookings for 2017 was also contributing to positive growth. Being able to offer agents and their clients the convenience and security of guaranteed rates on forward bookings, whilst waiting for 2017 rates to be released, has also been a positive move.
He said the latest FIT figures showed improvements of 34% for Croatia, 56% for Russia and a whopping 136% for Berlin accommodation.
