Mt Buller lights up the night to support good cause
Mt Buller’s Bourke Street lit up in blue, yellow and white on Saturday night, as well close to 200 skiers and snowboarders carried coloured lanterns down the popular ski run during the annual ‘Light the Night’ event.
In the first and the highest ‘Light the Night’ event in Australia in 2016, the Mt Buller community came together to raise funds and awareness of blood cancer.
In misty conditions lantern holders made their way down Bourke Street, providing participants and spectators with an uplifting and visually stunning event.
Light the Night is the Leukaemia Foundation’s annual fundraising event to help more Australians beat blood cancer by improving survival rates and quality of life. More than 60,000 people are living with blood cancers across the country, including leukaemia, lymphoma, myeloma or related blood disorders. And every day, another 35 people are diagnosed.
All proceeds from lantern purchases go towards the Leukaemia Foundation.
