Emirates’ commitment to working with and supporting the travel industry has again been recognised, with the airline announced as the winner of the Best International Airline (Online) award at the Australian Federation of Travel Agents (AFTA) National Travel Industry Awards for Excellence for an unprecedented fourth consecutive year.
Barry Brown, Emirates Divisional Vice President for Australasia, accepted the prestigious award, presented at the NTIA Gala Dinner in Sydney this week, while thanking the travel industry for its support.
During the awards Emirates also announced the winner of the 2016 Emirates Travel Consultant Scholarship, recognising a consultant with the potential to grow and lead within the travel trade and who has less than three years’ industry experience.
As a Gold Sponsor of the award for three years, Emirates announced George Hedley of Events Worldwide Travel, Victoria as the winner of the Emirates Scholarship.
George has been awarded up to $10,000 towards his travel education; as well as a Business Class trip for two to Dubai to explore the city and meet with key Emirates leaders. To top it off, he will also receive a money-can’t-buy invite to the famous Emirates Melbourne Cup marquee at Victoria’s Spring Racing Carnival.
The Emirates Sponsorship is just one way that Emirates is committed to the continued growth of the industry by enhancing the skills of the future leaders and entrepreneurs of the travel trade community.
The prestigious award follows Emirates being named the World’s Best Airline at the 2016 Skytrax World Airline Awards, earlier this month.
