In a travel industry first, Tourism Philippines has today announced plans for three national travel agent events in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane in April, primarily focused on agents using social media to entice even more travellers to this stunning destination.

The events will include presentations from major social media platforms, enabling agents to learn about how travellers and customers are using social media and gain new skills about this important tool to apply to their business.

Norjamin Delos Reyes, Tourism Attaché at Philippine Department of Tourism Australia and New Zealand, said, “Australia is the fifth largest visitor-generating market for the Philippines, with approximately 250,000 tourists arriving on our shores in 2015.

“We believe these trade events will offer a fresh perspective and unique opportunity for agents to not only learn about all that the Philippines has to offer, but also provide a chance to find out about how social media can assist in building brand awareness, how to reach consumers and selling the ideal destination.”

The events will take place as follows:

  • 6.00pm, 18th April 2016 – GOMA Roof Terrace, Brisbane
  • 6.00pm, 19th April 2016 – MCA Harbourside Rooftop, Sydney
  • 6.00pm, 21st April 2016 – Luminare, South Melbourne

“In today’s social media era, ensuring that agents are well equipped to manage and utilise digital platforms is beneficial to agents, agencies and travel destinations alike, including the Philippines,” said Norjamin Delos Reyes.

“Australia has over 14,000,000 monthly Facebook users and 5,000,000 monthly active users on Instagram*, therefore it is a space where a high number of potential consumers interact every day. At Tourism Philippines we believe that investing in agents by offering insights such as these, are key to ensuring that we are all industry innovators.”

To coincide with the events, Tourism Philippines will also host a “Mega Famil” for approximately 60 agents throughout Australia to experience the wondrous beauty of the Philippines. More details on this will be released soon.
