Sanctuary Retreats is delighted to announce a major investment program for its luxurious Botswana camp – Sanctuary Chief’s Camp.
Renowned for its exceptional levels of service and customer experience, this exclusive camp is consistently rated as one of the top safari camps in Botswana.
It is located on Chief’s Island in the Mombo Concession of the famous Moremi Game Reserve in Botswana, an area known as the ‘predator capital of Africa’.
Designed by Henk Schmidt of Arcon Africa Architects, the extensive refurbishment is scheduled to take place during early 2016, with the exciting new-look Camp opening to guests in June 2016.
The existing bush pavilions will be re-built and each will include new features such as a private dining area, a tranquil outside seating area and a terrace plunge pool -– all perfect for absorbing the surrounding plains and majestic African skies.
Private dining will be available for guests on their covered deck from where elephants, giraffes, buffalo and other wildlife can be seen. The in-room experience has also been enhanced, with an addition of a Nespresso machine in each pavilion.
New bathrooms will offer a spacious outdoor shower, a large bathtub, beautiful floor to ceiling windows and folding glass doors with an amazing outlook over the surrounding waters of the Okavango Delta.
The size of all twelve pavilions will increase significantly from 51 sqm to 141 sqm, making them some of the largest in the area. Each pavilion will be furnished with handmade furniture and will feature air conditioning as well as a traditional fan.
All the main and public areas of the Camp are also being extensively refurbished in a ‘safari chic’ style including a newly designed bar and library area, the extension of the dining room and the addition of a pizza deck with pizza oven.
A new orientation room where guests can learn more about the Delta before going on game drives will be added, as well as a gym and fully equipped children’s play room.
Commenting on the plans, Pieter van der Schee, Global Director Sales & Marketing for Sanctuary Retreats said, “Sanctuary Chief’s Camp is already one of the top safari camps in Botswana and this significant investment will make it the most luxurious camp in the area.
“We are delighted to announce this upgrade to our facilities which will ensure that our guests can enjoy the beauty of the Okavango Delta in pure luxury.
“As with all our camps and lodges in Africa, we always work with local craftsmen and will source materials to offer our guests natural luxury that reflects the local environment.
“We will power the camp with solar energy to help protect the environment and reduce our dependence on generator powered electricity.”
