Australia’s lead gay and lesbian tourism association, Gay and Lesbian Tourism Australia (GALTA), will hold its 2015 Annual General Meeting in the beachside destination of Noosa, on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast, later this month.
Members are invited to attend the association’s 23rd AGM and take advantage of a few days to unwind and relax with a social program taking in the natural beauty of Noosa and the Sunshine Coast hinterland.
Members attending the AGM also have the chance to win two return airfares from Sydney or the Gold Coast to Singapore, provided by GALTA member Scoot Airlines.
GALTA President Rod Stringer said that holding the association’s AGM in the Sunshine Coast region was a reflection of a growing membership in the area and the continued support of the tourism industry.
“The industry in Queensland has always been actively engaged with GALTA and our membership is strong and growing in Noosa and the Sunshine Coast.
“We have great support from the tourism bodies in the region and this year’s AGM and social program are being hosted by Tourism Noosa, together with new and existing GALTA members in the area.”
Mantra Group’s Peppers Noosa Resort & Spa will host an official welcome for the Board of GALTA on Friday 16 October. The resort, along with a host of Mantra Group properties across Queensland, are amongst GALTA’s newest members.
Ahead of the AGM formalities on Saturday 17 October, members will have an opportunity to experience the hinterland vistas and villages of the Sunshine Coast with a morning tour through Eumundi and visits to accommodation members Amore on Buderim Rainforest Cabins, Highwood Park B&B and Narrows Escape Rainforest Retreat.
GALTA members, Netanya Noosa Resort, will host the association’s AGM from 2.00-3.00pm at Rumba Bar on Hastings Street, with Malu Os Eco Boat Hire providing a boat cruise along the Noosa River to an evening function with tourism operators at the Noosa Boathouse in Noosaville. The function, hosted by Tourism Noosa, will feature entertainment from singer-songwriter Andrea Kirwin.
Mr Stringer said that he encouraged members to book ahead for this year’s AGM.
“It’s a great opportunity to connect with new members, learn what GALTA has planned for the coming 12 months on behalf of its membership and take time out in a beautiful part of Australia.”
Accommodation deals are being offered to GALTA members for the AGM staying at Peppers Noosa Resort & Villas, Horizons at Peregian and Noosa Parade Holiday Inn and Netanya Noosa Resort.
