Accor has announced four new Mercure hotels joining the group from the Pacific, increasing the number of Mercure hotels across Australia and New Zealand to 49.
The Ballarat Lodge & Convention Centre will be rebranded to Mercure Ballarat Hotel & Convention Centre in March 2015.
The 71-room hotel is located opposite Sovereign Hill and boasts two restaurants, 24 meeting and conference rooms of multiple configurations, a Day Spa and swimming pool.
Hotel Launceston in Tasmania will be rebranded to Mercure Launceston in April 2015, complementing Accor’s other Tasmanian property, The Sebel Launceston.
The 74 room Best Western Goulburn in New South Wales will join the Accor network in March 2015 and be rebranded as Mercure Goulburn.
In New Zealand, the Abel Tasman Hotel in Wellington will rebrand to Mercure Wellington Abel Tasman as of March 2015.
The hotel exists of 73-room hotel is located in the heart of Wellington’s business and entertainment district, and is within walking distance of Lampton Harbour.
Accor Pacific chief operating officer Simon McGrath, said the addition of four Mercure hotels will strengthen the existing footprint in the Pacific.
“We are thrilled to have a presence in the local communities of Ballarat, Launceston, Goulburn and Wellington and by bringing internationally branded hotels into these areas we look forward to fostering and growing tourism in these regions as a result,” Mr McGrath said.
