Marking 15 years of successful operations, ecruising.travel founder and chairman Brett Dudley celebrated the milestone together with staff, POSH Club clients and industry colleagues at a lavish celebration at Sydney’s Sheraton on the Park last night.
With a number of significant accolades under its belt, ecruising.travel has gone on to become the industry’s leading online cruising operator, despite humble beginnings at time most internet based companies were hitting rock bottom.
“Despite all the negative advice about linking cruising to the web, we survived the ’tech-wreck’ and have now reached this 15-year milestone recognised as a unique part of the Australian travel industry surrounded by the recognition confirmed by a string of business awards won in Australia and overseas,” Mr Dudley said.
Staying true to the philosophy that it is always better to specialise in something rather than try to be all things to all people, Mr Dudley has gone on to win a number of awards over the years, including taking out the winning title at the City of Sydney Business Awards in 2009, and runner up in 2011.
Renowned as an industry game changer in the way Australian customers purchase cruise holidays, the award winning internet based operator’s unique product range combined with inclusive combinations of air travel, accommodation, special meals and sightseeing tours has proven to be among the cruise industry’s most popular type of holiday.
Speaking of his love for cruising, Mr Dudley took the crowd through a colourful presentation of photos taken over the years, celebrating not just professional achievements but personal ones also, with his business venture leading him to meet his wife and business partner Philippa.
Head of Cruise Lines International Association and Royal Caribbean Cruises, Gavin Smith, said that although Mr Dudley and his wife are often described as entrepreneurs, he believes them to be pioneers.
“They have redefined the cruising industry…they have delivered so many ships to the homes and hearts of many Australians.”
