Leading luxury small ship cruising company, Aqua Expeditions, announced and celebrated the launch of Aqua Mekong, at Sydney restaurant Flying Fish last night.
Already a successful luxury river cruise operator on the Amazon River since 2007, Aqua Expeditions will commence its first luxury cruise along the Mekong River on 30th September, on board Mekong Aqua, the luxury cruise operator’s first vessel in Asia.
Already reporting strong bookings from both Australia and New Zealand, the journey along the Mekong River will take place between Cambodia and Vietnam on a seven night Expedition Cruise, four night Explorer Cruise and three night Discovery Cruise.
“These will be important markets for Aqua Mekong and, as we anticipated, a number of bookings have come from guests who have travelled with us before on our Amazon cruises and are looking forward to this new boutique cruise experience on the Mekong,” Aqua Expeditions chief executive officer and founder, Francesco Galli Zugaro said.
Bringing Aqua Expeditions’ signature luxury style to the Mekong, Aqua Mekong is small enough to be intimate but equally as spacious and sophisticated as her sister ships, Aqua Amazon and Aqua Aria, with attention to detail right throughout, from the design and décor to the cuisine and service.
Designed by Saigon based architectural firm Noor Design, Aqua Mekong offers 20 outward facing design suites, all featuring floor to ceiling windows and decorated in authentic Asian style with locally sourced materials.
Aqua Mekong also features an Observation Deck, a river facing plunge pool on the Outdoor Lounge, a generous sized spa and fitness centre, library and screening room, and of course, exceptional cuisine thanks to renowned Australian Michelin-starred Chef, David Thompson, appointed as executive chef of Aqua Mekong.
