Skyscanner sees the future of aviation and airports

Skyscanner has come up with some futuristic predictions for airports in its latest Future of Travel report including automated check-in and even greater use of technology.

The report finds that the future will see a completely automated airport experience which will get rid of the need to wait in check-in queues and passengers possessing digital luggage tags and suitcases pre-coded with flight details and destinations.

The aesthetic of airports will also change, with open buildings housing open-air parks and pools.

Lastly the report predicts that Skype like holographic systems will be available in-flight, allowing passengers to have conversations with friends and family way up to 35,000 feet in the air.

Skyscanner’s head of business to business operations, Filip Filipov said that new technologies will allow people to travel with a number of fun distractions.

“Emerging technologies mean that by 2024 the travel journey from our home to holiday destination has the potential to be a stress-free and enjoyable experience – full of fun distractions for everyone,” Mr Filipov said.

“Airports and flights will no longer be the price we pay to travel but instead will signify the start of our holidays where travellers can relax and create the perfect space to suit their needs whether they’re flying for business or leisure.”
