Announcing the news, MTA CEO, Don Beattie said Ms Kearns needed no introduction to the industry having spent more than 16 years in several senior roles across the wholesale, retail and corporate travel sectors.
This includes more than five years working as national recruitment executive for another home-based travel agency model.
“Having Clare on board represents a major win for MTA, “ Mr Beattie said.
“Given her high industry profile, her vast experience and understanding of the home-based travel model, she represents an excellent fit for the MTA management team.
“The skill set she brings will only enhance our already strong business growth seen in the Victorian market throughout 2013 which will grow substantially again in 2014.
“We know with her high profile and reputation she will have a major impact for us and we are obviously delighted to have her on the management team.
“There is no doubt that her appointment, which will not only provide additional support to the local Victorian and Tasmanian MTA Members, will also assist in their individual business development.”
Ms Kearns’ appointment represents the first major management appointment Mr Beattie has made since being appointed to the CEO role last September.
In that time he has instigated several major changes.
These include implementation of a revised membership fee structure, the introduction of a new ‘Rewards & Recognition’ incentive scheme and the provision of the enhanced, fully integrated, fully supported websites to all MTA members.
