|Flight Centre, Intrepid Travel divide My Adventure Store ownership|
As part of a restructure in their adventure travel joint venture, Flight Centre will divide ownership of My Adventure Story (MAS) stores with tour operator, Intrepid Travel.
The group’s 17 stores have been run under joint ownership since 2008 but will split this year, with Flight Centre taking on MAS’s Australia, Canada and Wellington stores and Intrepid holding onto the Auckland and Islington stores.
The change will be made effective immediately in Canada and New Zealand and will take into effective from 30 September in the UK and 31 December in Australia.
As part of the adjustment, Intrepid will become a key preferred product supplier to the MAS network and staff will also either transfer to Flight Centre or Intrepid Travel.
Intrepid Travel managing director James Thornton said the agreement was a logical step for the two companies and will allow them to focus on their strengths while building the adventure travel sector.
“Flight Centre is a retail expert, while Intrepid delivers fun, affordable and sustainable adventure holidays to travellers around the world,” Mr Thornton explained.
