High Flying Queensland Chef joins Pullman Reef Hotel Casino

151083Chef Mark Jensen, highly regarded for his work at some of Queensland’s best known restaurants, has joined Pullman Reef Hotel Casino in Cairns.

He was previously head chef at Salt House Restaurant in Cairns where he replaced the existing French cuisine with a Modern Australian menu with a south-east Asian bias.

Prior to this he was executive chef at Lizard Island Resort, voted Number Three resort in the world by Luxury Travel magazine in 2012.

Chef Jensen has also worked as executive chef at the five star Spicer’s Peak Lodge at Maryvale, Queensland and was chef de cuisine at Conrad Treasury’s Marco Polo Dining Cellar and Martini Bar in Brisbane.

Pullman Reef Hotel Casino’s signature restaurant, Tamarind Restaurant, currently holds an Australian Good Food and Travel Guide Chef Hat award and in 2012, won the Contemporary Australia Restaurant – Formal category at the North Queensland – Savour Australia Restaurant and Catering Association Awards for Excellence.

Pullman Reef Hotel Casino’s general manager Wayne Reynolds, said the appointment of Chef Jensen underlined the hotel’s commitment to culinary excellence.

"Tamarind Restaurant offers the premier dining experience in Far North Queensland. Chef’s arrival is a signal that we will continue to combine excellence with innovation," he said.
