Indonesia is exceptionally
popular with Kiwi travellers.
New Zealanders are expanding their international scope for travel, according to the latest travel figures.
New statistics from Flight Centre have revealed booking increases to a wider variety of overseas destinations in June 2013, compared to the same period last year.
Indonesia, Mexico, Brazil and Samoa ranked as the top destinations for Kiwi travellers.
“Kiwis still love travelling to Australia and the Pacific Islands, however the latest information confirms they are looking for diversity when it comes to international travel,” Flight Centre New Zealand managing director Mike Friend said.
“Samoa is a great example of this because it’s an excellent alternative to the usual Fiji or Cook Islands beach break and we have seen almost a 90 percent increase in bookings.”
Mr Friend said bookings to Indonesia increased by almost 110 percent year on year, due to new direct services introduced by Air New Zealand last year.
Flight Centre will host a dedicated Travel Expo in Auckland on 11 August 2013, with a focus on destinations including Asia, South America, North America, Hawaii, the South Pacific and Australia.
All New Zealand Flight Centre retail outlets will also hold in-store shows over this weekend.
