Topdeck releases winter program early

Topdeck has launched its Europe in Winter program a month ahead of schedule, featuring smaller group Explorer-style trips for the first time and new included experiences such as a Venice gondola ride.

The 44-page brochure offers 26 winter trips including Christmas and New Year packages, an Austrian skiing adventure and add-on itineraries through Egypt, Morocco and Jordan.

A range of discounts are available including a 5 per cent early payment option for trips booked and paid in full six months in advance.

The youth brand has introduced two ‘Explorer’ trips which feature a maximum of 30 passengers and get to the heart and soul of their destination.

The new 14-day Winter Britain & Ireland journeys through England, Scotland, Ireland and Wales and includes a ‘ghost walk’ in York, an Edinburgh walking tour, the Scottish Highlands and Loch Ness, Glasgow, the Giants Causeway, a visit to the Guinness Storehouse in Dublin and a traditional Sunday roast in Liverpool from $2138* per person.

The 10-day Winter Bravo Italia explores the best of Italy and includes a tour of Rome, Assisi, a gondola ride in Venice, Verona, Milan and wine tasting in Tuscany from $1701* per person.

Other itineraries include the popular 18-day Winter Getaway from London through France, Switzerland, Italy, the Netherlands,  Austria, Germany, Czech Republic and Belgium with highlights including a Paris City Lights tour, a vaporetto ride in Venice, a bicycle tour of Amsterdam and a Dutch cheese and clog demonstration from $2091* per person.

Topdeck director of sales Asia Pacific Ben Ittensohn said the brochure had been released early due to demand.

“Snow-covered scenery, cosy inns, festive markets and fewer crowds make winter a fantastic time to check out Europe,” he said.

“On top of that, our winter trips take advantage of seasonal discounts and offer savings of up to 25 per cent on their summer equivalents, which has created strong demand.

“We’ve continued expanding our winter program in response and added Explorer trips for the first time which feature an average of 16 to 20 people, include stays in character-filled hotels and B&Bs and let travellers get to know a region in depth.”

The winter trips feature ‘Totally Topdeck’ included experiences such as a gondola ride on Venice’s Grand Canal, a stay in a 12th century Rhine castle, dinner at the famous Hofbrauhaus in Berlin, entry to Gellert Baths in Budapest and a bike tour and cheese and clog making demonstration in Amsterdam.

Topdeck also offers several Christmas in Europe itineraries including the 4-day Paris Christmas featuring accommodation, a City Lights tour and Christmas lunch; and the 8-day Baltic Christmas visiting Latvia, Estonia and St Petersburg and including a Christmas dinner.

New Year packages are available to Hogmanay in Edinburgh, Prague, Krakow, Amsterdam, Berlin and Madrid, while ski enthusiasts can hit the slopes in the Austrian Tyrol region with the 8-day Ski Austria package.

“There’s also itineraries to Egypt, Jordan and Morocco which are great add-on trips, particularly at this time of year when the weather is cooler,” Mr Ittensohn said.
