SureSave appoints Michael Callaghan as new Executive GM

SureSave, one of Australia’s leading travel insurance businesses, has appointed Michael Callaghan as its new Executive General Manager. Based in Sydney, Callaghan will be responsible for growing the business and its various insurance offerings throughout the Australian travel market.

Callaghan’s career background was in media, most recently with News Ltd and previous to that EYEcorp, part of the Ten network group.

Stewart Hindmarsh, Chief Executive of the World Nomads Group, SureSave’s parent company, says Callaghan’s appointment has come at an exciting time for the business, which has seen significant investment take place across its technology, customer care and product innovation platforms.

"We have an exciting range of developments in the pipeline which we believe will help re-invent what it means to buy and sell travel insurance policies. Michael’s background in bringing new innovations to market and in creating products based on customer needs will ensure these recent investments greatly benefit our partners and their customers," says Hindmarsh.

Callaghan says SureSave’s recent focus has been making travel insurance easy for travellers to understand and for travel agent partners to sell.

"With a renewed focus on the needs of our agent partners and range of new innovations in the works, the business is ready and poised to grow throughout the agent network."

"I am excited about the opportunity ahead, but recognise we have lots more work to do. Our recent market research has shown all insurance suppliers, including SureSave, need to lift their efforts to manage the pressures from online travel insurance and credit card providers," says Callaghan.

"I look forward to working closely with our network of agents over the coming months to combat the shifting market and to strengthen our agency offering through a range of exciting innovations."
