UK travellers are heading to Eastern European destinations to smooch on their loved ones over Valentine’s Day, according to a new survey.
Findings compiled by car hire comparison engine, eRentals.co.uk found that vehicle bookings over the romantic period to destinations throughout Eastern Europe has surged compared to last year particularly for car hire in Sofia in Bulgaria, Prague in the Czech Republic, Bratislava in Slovakia and Krakow in Poland.
Although the Eastern region has spiked in interest, an eRentals spokesperson said bookings to popular romantic destinations remain high.
“France remains as popular a romantic destination as ever but we’ve definitely seen a change in booking behaviour this year,” the spokesperson said.
“Brits looking for bargain breaks over the Valentine’s Day period are using cheap flights, restaurants and hotels to enjoy bargain breaks to Eastern Europe this year."Other popular destinations for the week of Valentine’s Day include ski resorts, according to the spokesperson.
“Ski resorts are increasingly popular this year too as people use value for money car hire as a way of getting more for their budgets.”
